Several companies have recently announced initiatives to help both their employees and customers get involved ahead of Election Day.

Foot Locker is the latest brand to join the growing list with an announcement last week that they have partnered with Rock the Vote to morph their stores into voter registration sites.

As of Sept. 23, National Voter Registration Day, folks shopping at their nearest Foot Locker, Champs Sports or Footaction location can get themselves registered to vote right in store. That adds up to more than 2,000 sites across the United States where people can make sure they’re ready to exercise their civic duty this Election Day. In-store shoppers will be afforded one-click access to a simple digital hub where they can quickly and easily check their voter registration status, register to vote and even sign up for election reminders. Online shoppers can find this same voter registration portal on Foot Locker’s website.

By teaming up with Rock the Vote’s nonpartisan initiative, Brands for Democracy, Foot Locker specifically hopes to attract and empower more Gen-Z voters, four million of whom have become freshly eligible to vote for the first time this November.

“In a year marked with such uncertainty, amid a pandemic and social unrest, our country’s future — and our collective role in shaping it — has never been more important,” said Foot Locker, Inc. CEO Richard Johnson. “At Foot Locker, our mission is to inspire and empower youth culture, so partnering with Rock The Vote was a natural fit to help educate and amplify the voices of today’s youth.”

Rock the Vote reports that their platform has registered 870,000 new voters so far this year (as of the end of August, that is). That’s a significant increase from the 550,000 new voters they helped get registered ahead of the 2016 election.

“The Foot Locker, Inc. family of brands reach millions of young people every day, giving them a tremendous platform to empower this generation with the information they need to vote in this election,” stated Rock the Vote President Carolyn DeWitt. “We, at Rock the Vote, are eager to leverage their longstanding, trusted relationship with America’s youth generation to ensure their voices are heard.”

The family of Foot Locker brands is also encouraging their own workers — over 30,000 store and corporate team members nationwide — to get out and vote in this election. They’ll be providing flexible work hours to accommodate voting alongside accessible and extensive resources to help get everyone prepped for the polls with the utmost confidence.
