Diageo flooded the market with GOT whisky screwing the collectors who paid a lot for thesw bottles..

With spirits connected to series I'm afraid you pay a lot extra for the series name.

I know you won't review them. But I still think a review of the 12-year-old pure malt would make for a very informative video – especially in regards to the hints of yesteryear. Very interesting.

The square root of the number of staff in any Dept or company do half the work. So in a company of 1000 approximately 31 people are responsible for 50% of productivity. It’s kind of obvious when you look around you.

Whom are you talking about at 19:10 Ralfy, the other bidders or auction house people who sussed you out?

You can make a review of a good modern 12 y.o. blended malt, and in the same review a comparison with the Glen Turner 12 y.o……….Or/and a 25/30 y.o. modern blended scotch, maybe independent, and a comparison with the 30 y.o. Scotch Leader…..I thing it can be quite a episode, or two..

I bought the GoT Clynelish on deep discount (I constantly see that range going cheap, seems like the whole idea was a bit disastrous). The Clynelish bottling stood out to me for its higher strength (51.2%), I’ve been enjoying it and if I see it for the same price I might pick up another bottle. I’m sure your postie will enjoy the gift!

We live and learn! I would never have thought that ceramic flasks would be less desirable to collectors. "Stone" jars and flasks used to be IT for kitchen preserves so I assumed they'd be the same for liquor. It would be interesting to experiment with glass lined flasks.

Always great finding good values at auction. Those Game of Thrones expressions were selling for big money on the secondary when they first came out, but as soon as the TV show ended and everyone hated the finale, prices sunk. Haha. Plus none of those were better than their official bottlings.

im a sucker for the dogs. long live the shop/bars/cafes that have a house dog/cat/parrot – not many of these places left. id have a bottle of maggie also if i had met her. the guy in inveraray has a big one behind the counter. i always buy a bottle from him when im in that neck of the woods – probably something to do with the above.

As someone who has been watching for over 5yrs now, and I’ve seen the boom in whisky interest I really look forward to your simple, straight forward, honest approach. I’m stuck in Canada where it is really difficult to taste along with you but what you are sharing goes beyond the individual bottle. Thanks. (BTW this clicker works too good there no closing bloopers anymore)

Talking of the value of jobs, Ralfy, you should add David Graeber's "BullShit Jobs: A Theory" to your reading list. Most jobs are worthless and the most important jobs that people do are financially undervalued. I also recommend Graeber's "Debt: The First 5000 Years." That's an eye-opener too.

my local liquor store has set of Macallen Speymalt''the collection, containing; Macallan 1938 65yo Macallan 1940 60yo, Macallen 1950 55yo, Macallan 1967 38yo, Macallan 1973 31yo and Macallan 1987 18yo. i like glancing over it when they take the set out. i would love to taste them, but ill never be able to afford it for €47500. neither am i willing to ever spend that money on something i would drink and eventually send down the sewer. no taste in the world is worth that much money. id rather spend the money on a bunch of different bottles and enjoy a much wider pallette of flavours than on just a single bottle
ill stick to my regular €20/50 bottles and only occasionally buy a bottle at €100 tops or €125 when i think its worth it. but only on special occasions.
i enjoy drinking my malts and it needs to stay fun and enjoyable without costing too much.

Aaah yes bid fever.. I have had one or two of those myself.. Thank god in return I now have some nice bottles to put in the cabinet next to some less nice bottles.. Listen to the man, I experienced it first hand..
Always ask yourself: If u are in the shop and see the auction bottle in front of u for that price.. Would u purchase and pay for it there and then the go without doubt.. If so, u are within your limits. Otherwise you're over extending

I love the extras, Ralf. As a long time follower and malt mate, I look forward to them just as much as the reviews. Would love to see you venture out and do some on location stuff again, and the ultimate hope…would be great to see you host a live stream (I know, bad internet on the Isle of Man)…but maybe combine on location/live stream? Cheers!
