Happy Malty Monday Dear Sir! Interesting review. Not much of an Irish whiskey fan myself. That light minty note you mention just doesn’t agree with me (dirty, fusty scotches are more my thing) but I’m always interested in new bottles to recommend to those I know who are only familiar with the Big Brand Names. And always love supporting integrity bottles! Thanks for the heads up on this one!

I do feel somewhat sorry for folks during Irish Whiskey reviews. The comments are predictable: folks find Irish to light, to easy to drink etc What a shame – Teeling makes one of the finest Single Malts in the world! Try Dunville's Peated. The Irish Single Pot Still like Redbreast or one of the Spot series are not "blends" but a distinctive category. For blends, ever try perhaps Writers Tears Cooper Pot finished in Cognac casks? Perhaps The Dead Rabbit (The Liberties) for the great pub in NYC? West Cork distillery? Enough of the humbug people, go on an Irish journey! Relax, enjoy!

That's one of my favorite Irish whiskey! The Ladies at J.J. Correy have blended a fenominal whiskey.

Thank you, Ralfy. Not only do I thoroughly enjoy my bottle of The Gael, I agree 100% with the transparency. Cheers!

Funny, I always suggested exactly this disclosure instead of age-statements, when discussing this topic with friends. Only learned today, that this is illegal, which leaves me scratching my head just a bit …

"Nobody looks good when they're pished." Nope. And when you're pished, other people start to look better, and that's not always a good thing!
