I'm excited for the upcoming Ardbeg experiment. I recently tried out your oaking experiment on a bottle of Tomatin that I wasn't very fond of. I actually ended up soaking a medium toast American stave in a mead that I made. It's been two weeks, and I am very happy with the results. I'm planning to make a video about it, and I'll make sure to leave you a shoutout and link to your channel / that video.

You spoke one big true fact that we are used to forgetting, whisky is not rare! There is surely more good quality whisky available then we will ever be able to taste on our life spam, so let's just calm down and enjoy the drams we chose for that moment.

Every time, still read it as Barlinnies. Prior to finding my glasses.

I give this easily an Integrity malt review mark 91/100.

Hey, Ralfy! Have you ever considered a video series on what steps to take and what whiskey’s to drink for a beginner starting out? Maybe even a tutorial on notes and tasting?
Also, what water do you use for your whiskeys? Distilled? Purified? Spring? Tap?

Any plans to review the Flora & Fauna bottlings of Benrinnes or Dailuaine?

I just purchased my first independent bottling yesterday. Haven't opened it yet but it's a Signatory 16 year old 1997 distilled dufftown, 46% non chill filtered. It was time to break away from core line bottles and try something different. Working my way to the cask strength stuff but not in a hurry! Thanks ralfy

Is Glenlivet a good "starter"? Thanks!! I had a boss that would drink a bottle of this over the course of a day. He lived to be 80ish.

Had a dram of the Benrinnes 1997 SV 20YO. Lovely malt! Going to get the 18 YO.
Edit, just bought one. 88 euros is not too bad for an 18YO.

Ralfy, no wonder you're getting some of that pot still Irish character – as Benrinnes is (normally) triple-distilled. Sounds like a true cracker, btw.

Haha, Blow me socks off. Sometimes this is not a bad thing Ralfy. Sometimes attitude and openness more than experience can yield a more rewarding malt moment when venturing out into unknown 'waters'. Just saying 😉

You never stop blowing my mind with your knowledge of whiskey. I am a subscriber and supporter for this reason. This post made my week. I am looking forward to the extras post to learn even more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I wish one day to have the ability to taste half as well as you. Alas, time is against me, but I am optimistic. Thank you Ralfy for your insight and for always sharing everything so clearly and transparently. Integrity!

Looking forward to the extras for this. Living in a state with limited choices that doesn't allow for ordering from outside sources, the best way for me to experience more whiskys is to do a little blending on my own.

Speaking of blending, I have been having great results with Glendronach 15 and Laphroaig 10 Yr. Cask Strength.
