The ever-stylish Portugese footballer is known just as much for his impeccable fashion choices as he is for his skills on the pitch so it’s no wonder that Lapo Elkann, founder and creative director of Italia Independent, would want to collaborate with Ronaldo and his personal brand CR7. The pair first came together over a year ago to design this long-awaited collection of diverse sunglasses. Ranging from classic silhouettes in subdued hues to fun and colorful retro-styled throwbacks like these gold-mirrored vintage aviators, the lineup includes a handsome match for a wide variety of sartorial tastes.
After working so closely with Ronaldo on this project, Elkann had some high praise for the famous footballer.
“I was able to appreciate the exceptional and unique values that he represents on and off the pitch even more,” he said in a press release for the product launch. “Passion, determination, and high attention to detail are further confirmation that the symbol of world football is always one step ahead.”
The duo’s impressive collection features seven different styles of sunglasses — a nod to Ronaldo’s cherished jersey number — which fall into three product families: acetate, metal and TR90 injected plastic. Regardless of the material they’re made from, however, each sunglass style features unique design elements that show off Ronaldo’s stamp of approval, including his number “7” on the frame, the CR7 logo at the temple or even his own signature laser-imprinted on the corner of the lens. Each of the seven styles offers five color variants for a total of 35 exquisite pieces (and another intentional nod to Ronaldo who turned 35 this past February).
Ranging in price from $79 to $150, the nearly three dozen styles are now all available for online purchase in over 70 countries at the freshly-launched CR7-Eyewear.com.
